Hi all just been messing around with SpruceUp and testing it I went and ripped a DVD using SmartRipper. How I Ripped the DVD is i used stream Prossing and Demux to extrafiles both the video and audio so i got an m2v file and a Ac3 file, and i just left the name how smartripper named it.

Under the setting tabe i had it set up like this
Key check - every-vob file
File splitting Max-filesize and the filesize is set to 9000MB
Option these are checked, unlock drive, DeMacrovision, Fast error Skip
Vob File Access is checked to auto

After that I hit start and like i said iget my m2v and my AC3 files.
I open SpruceUp and inport the M2v file that works ok, then i try to add the Ac3 file and i get this error every time "Audio file cannot be imported Directly". Whats up with this i thought that Spruceup was able to take Ac3 files. So i tryed this i converted the Ac3 file to wave file and guess what i got the same dam error " audio files cannot be imprte directly". So i said ok lets see if ti see the file when you hit the export button well it did it's thing and i got all the DVD files. So i tryed to paly on Power DVD it plays just fine but with out sound. So now i ask what am i doing wrong?

First the DVD i was trying was bigger than 4.7 it was like 7.2 gigs so i went and found a DVD taht would fit on a 4.7 DVD just by coppying it strat over and i did every thing as above and when i was all dont and went to put the Ac3 file in guess what got the same dam error "AUDIO FILES CANNOT BE IMPORTED DIRECTLY"

Well now im lost so i need your help Can you import Ac3 files in to Spruceup or is it just a Spruceup lie. If you can import Ac3 file how in the hell do you do it their Help files are shit they dont help and do see to wont to tell you how to do it.

Name your audio file exactly the same as your video file, for example if you video file was schmooly.mpv then name your audio file schmooly.ac3. SpruceUp will then import the audio and video at the same time.

Ok jdobbs ill try that but i have one question will SpruceUp see the ac3 file and importit it self as its exporting the file to the HD? Or do i have to drop the file in manualy?

one more Question can you just renam the files in windows or name the files as i strip them with smartripper?

just rename them in explorer. but watch out for the file extension eg. if your file is called "video" and then says over to the right m2v file then just rename it "video2" or whatever. if it is video.m2v then make sure you rename it to "video2.m2v" without the quotes ofcourse.

Can't imagine why it wouldn't work. You don't need WinDVD installed (there are drivers related to WinDVD installed with SpruceUp). The demo version of SpruceUp won't handle the AC3 file (a licensing issue I believe).

Things to look for:
1. The .AC3 file and the .M2V (or .MPV) file must be in the same directory.

2. You don't have an extra extension on the file that is "hidden" by the operating system.

3. You can't import audio individually, it will only import it as a part of a video asset import. If you have a project already configured with video imported, and you then put a properly named AC3 file in the directory with the video, SpruceUp will find it and import it the next time you open it up. The way you tell it was imported wasy by an indicator showing on the asset icon and the fact that you get audio when you playback the asset.
