Are these any good?

Before I spent my money bidding these on EBay I'd check and make sure they aren't actually these:

They sure look like it. There aren't that many places I've seen that make double sided DVD-Rs and they are cheaper from the manufacturer...

I have a few of them. They work alright for me, but others have reported worse luck than me. Frankly it's cheaper just to get two single sided DVD-Rs, so I'm not sure what the advantage is. You have to eject it and turn it over anyway.

If I were you I'd buy a couple and try them first on your burner/player before I spent $180 (opening bid!) to $240 for 30 of them. Especially when they appear to have a list price of $178.50,

I haven't had a problem with any of them yet. (from cdrecordable.com) I've found the double sided useful for things like the Farscape DVD's that have two episodes on them. I just put one on one side and the other on the other side. I'm also backing up the TV series "24" to DVD and it's easier to have 4 episodes to one disc as opposed to only 2. The whole season will fit on 6 discs instead of 12. Just thought I'd offer ideas for anyone wondering why they would want a dual-sided disc.

I think they are kinda kewl. it does cut down on the number of disks. but what if you mucked up on one.

kinda costly. :(

I always verify by burning to RW first. It's a total PAIN to have to wait an hour to burn it but, like you said, it would be costly to screw it up. I'd rather be safe than sorry. The burn-proof takes care of any potential buffer-underrun situations.
