Hi manodivx,

Right click on the network neighbourhood icon, then click on properties. When the window comes up, there should be a button named "files and print sharing". Click on this button, then make sure there are ticks in both boxes. Press OK and Windows will install files from your 98 CD. After a restart you should now be able to share.

just wondering, do you have encyption enabled? or is there some sort of firewall between either of the computers and your broadband connection? if there isn't, then when you enable file and printer sharing, you will be sharing with the whole world. and if you don't have encryption enabled, then you are sharing with anyone with a wireless card.

i ask this because i know that some of the wireless cards automatically turn off file and printer sharing for security because they know it can be (and usually is) blindly open. i don't want you to open yourself up to the silly attacks i see probing all over the internet, OR the easy exploits people have found for wireless networks.

be safe

Hi fisix,

If you have a broadband connection, having a firewall is a good idea no matter what. However, you are able to disable file and print sharing to the broadband connection. If you right click on the network neighbourhood icon, then click on properties. When the window comes up, there should be a TCP/IP icon bound to your broadband device. Open the properties to this, select the bindings tab, and then untick the box for file and printer sharing for Microsoft networks.
