I have philips 711 / 001, DVD-R works great, but I'm unable to play DVD-RW.
I tested my RW disk in store in Philips DVD 711 / 002.
I contacted philips repair center where I live and they reasured
me there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between 711 /001 and 711 /002.
They said 001 means player was ment for region 1 and 002 means it is ment for region 2, other then that there is no difference.
I remember when i first bought this player I was unable to play SVCD due to a wrong P code. I changed P code to 31 and SVCD works since then.
I wonder is it possible same thing is happening to me again, wrong P code for DVD-RW, player "chews" on RW for about a minute and spits it out.
If anyone is able to play -RW on philips 711 can they please check and report their P number, firmware version and if player is 711/001 or 711/002.
