Hi all... I am having a very frustrating problem using CCE and Adobe Premiere 6.0. Let me give you a rundown of what I am doing. I am using DVD2AVI to open original DVD VOB files in Premiere. I am using the Force Film option in DVD2AVI so that I can edit the files with frame accuracy. I've decoded the AC3 audio file and have all 6 tracks as audio streams in the project. Playback in the project viewer works great! Audio is in perfect sync throughout the film and it looks great too. I've used frame server to export the video to encode in TMPGenc with the built-in 3:2 pulldown option in TMPG to convert it back to 29.97fps. The final MPEG2 file stays in sync with the audio but since this is a long movie and I plan to burn it to a DVD+RW I am forced to use a relatively low bitrate and I have not been happy with the quality in TMPGenc. So I decided to give CCE a try...

WOW! CCE 2.64 has given beautiful video quality results at the lower bitrate and is very fast. But now I am having a problem that I was not experiencing before. CCE is lengthening the movie slightly so it results in audio sync problems within the first 20 min of the movie. The project in Premiere is 2:15:05:10 while CCE detects the length as 2:15:06:20 (this is based on a 24fps timecode). The resulting movie has been stretched a total of 1.41666 seconds. I'm pretty sure that I know what the problem is but I don't know how to correct it. I did the math and the difference in time is %100.0174. The difference in time between 23.98fps and 23.976fps is %100.0166. Premiere only has the option to set the framerate to 23.98fps in your project. I think CCE is assuming that the film is really 23.976fps which would slow the video down %100.0166 like what I am experiencing. I have tried exporting the project with both the CCE premiere plug-in and using frameserver and encoding the file in the full CCE encoder with the exact same result. I've searched this forum for anyone with a similar problem but was unable to find anything. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the help!

I've not used the premiere pluging yet (although I will get around to it when I start moving my DV files to DVD). I have gotten an audio/video sync problem with both 2.50 and 2.64 when remuxing back with IFOedit. I haven't calculated the difference but it seems close to what you are having. The video is a bit slower than the audio but only after the first chapter or so. I'm doing more testing as I've only used the settings on the doom9 guides. Using DVD2AVI to set the D2V project and then VFAPI for the AVI to bring into CCE. I have to say, CCE has excellent video quality even at high compression with CBR.

I have the similiar kind of audio out of sync problem. The audio playback fine in first 15 mins of movie. But then it start de sync.It seems that video is bit slow then audio.

Lemme explain u guys, that wat i am doing.
My intention is to extract the songs frm differnt dvds and author them in maestro. For this purpose i ripped the my desire dvds.and perform the dvd2avi process to exctract ac3.
Then I use gnkont on ,d2v file to create avs.
In which i use standard three option.
And then encoded with CCE.ANd just not check the upper field first.
and checked progrreive.Rest of settings were same as describe in doom9 guides.Beacuse my source is NTSC INTERLACED.
So i didn't apply force film as well.

Then i put my m2v and ac3 in meastro but it wasn't perfectly sync.

I hope i had clear my problem if didn't, please don't hesitate to ask me to clear it more.

Hope to see the solution frm great peoples

I ended up trying my moving from CCE into Spruceup (without remuxing back with IFOEdit) and the imported sound and video were sync'd. I have read there is a problem with IFOEdit and CCE files. I'm going to do more testing though.

I am not using Ifoedit to remux my CCE genarated .m2v with DVD2AVi genarated .ac3 . I am using maestro for this purpose. But still the problem is same.
The movie plays fine for 10 min then audio start de-sync.Either audio moving faster then video.Or the video is slower then audio after 10 mins of running.

Hope to see solution

I've never used Maestro so am not sure. I'm assuming since the audio starts out fine that it's not a delay problem (or it should be off at the start). Maybe someone using Maestro can help.

I have the same problem in Scenarist... I don't think it's a local problem to maestro... The length of the video and audio files end up being different... It's wierd.

Demons u are quite rite..it is not the maestro local problem.
i had done many dvd with maestro with same encoding method. All work fine. But not this one.
And wired is my video and audio lenght is quite same as well.No big differnce in lenght.
And it is also true that it is not the dealy prob.Coz DVD2AVi shows 0ms delay in my ac3 file.
There must be something wrong with video i guess.Something to do with drop frames or like it.

Well....Hoping to see expert advice.
