I have a PAL mpeg2 at 740x576 but when I import it into maestro, the properties read NTSC at 740x480.

I have tried patchin the file with DVDPatcher to 740x576 but it still imports into maestro as 740x480.

Spruceup reads it fine.

I cannot put another PAL video on the same disc because of this.

Anyone know whats going on??

740x576 is not a correct resolution for PAL or NTSC. Should be 720x576 PAL or 720x480 NTSC.

you maybe encoded your pal mpeg2 with a ntsc framerate (29.97 instead of 25).
What is the message from DVD maestro?

The file is encoded at 25fps, maestroe tells me this, its if I right click on the file and select properties it says its 25fps but 720x480.

When I try and drag it onto the timeline, it says that it is NTSC and do I want to force the project to NTSC. If I do this, I then wont be able to use another PAL film.

SpruceUp and any mpeg tools ive used, tell me the file is PAL 25fps and 720x576.

even patched the whole file with DVDPatcher to 720x576 but Maestro still tells me its 720x480.

did you read above ??

he said 720x480 = NTSC and NTSC doesnt use 25fps either 29.97 or 23.97

pal video is 720x756 and uses 25fps

so if it is pal you want keep the 25fps and dump the 720x480 for 720x576.

you will really have to re-encode from the start again to get the correct aspect ratio.

hope that helps.

I think youve read it wrong :/

The film has been encoded by me to 25fps and 720x576 which is the PAL spec for DVD.

Maestro reads it as being 25fps but 720x480.
I know this is neither Pal nor NTSC spec, but maestro tells me its NTSC bacause of the resolution.

DVDPatcher and other software reports it as being correct 720x576, its only maestro that thinks otherwise, even after patching with dvdpatcher (even though it didn't need patching).

re-encode it anyway (using correct settings).. or open it in dvd2avi and check settings in there

Ok.. This is an old topic.. But maybe somebody has found the solution.
I have the same problem:

File is 720x576 25fps (PAL)
Maestro reports it as 720x480 25fps (NTSC)

I have the same problem with everything I try to encode to PAL
Maestro just reports it as 720x480 and places subtitles wrong due to it.
