I updated xvideo and then the codec disapeared from virtual dub, etc. It is still listed in control panel.
I then update divx and that also disapeared.. Does any one know what might cause this or how to fix it, before I go and reinstall windows.
I am running win2k pro.

in virtualdub, the displayed codecs are the one that support the selected pixel format.
so, if you set your formay to yuy2, you'll see less codecs than you'll see with rgb24 for example.
also, not all codecs support capture, so if you're looking at the codecs list before capturing you'll only see the codecs that are capture capable+specific colorspace capable.

I'm not capturing, Xvideo was listed, I updated it and it disapeared. DivX 5 was still listed. Updated that to 5.01 and it to disappeared. Divx 311alpha fast and slow motion are still there, however if I reinstalled them, they to would probably disapear.
Yep, now they are gone to.

Try uninstalling or removing them from the computer all together, then install the versions you want back in. That should work.

Tried all that, uninstalling, reinstalling, cleaning out registry etc.. But it was not a problem with the codecs, it is something in windows that was stuffed.. Anyway, I did the full reinstall and all my codecs are back and working now.
