I just muxed the AC3 audio with the .AVI --> sound volume is ERRATIC,drops,then rises

I muxed the ac3 track that is spitted out by DVD2avi (audio ->dolby digital -> decode)with the .avi file. I get the sound but it's messed up. The volume will be normal for one minute then it will drop to a low volume and after a while, it will be normal again, then drop.

I listened to the DVD again, this doesn't happen at all.

Sounds like you might have some funky DRC settings in D2A possible. Did you have it set to heavy or off by chance? Check it out under the audio menu. I typically leave mine set to normal.

instead of muxing the 5.1 ac3 track with the .avi file, i decided to mux the 2 channel aC3 track and it doesn't exhibit any problems at all!!!!!!!

does the fact that my hardware configuration (both soundcard and speakers) don't support 5.1 audio have any bearings on this?
