Ok, I've got a question on bitrate, resolution, and video quality.
I've been doing rips at 1000kb/s and 640x??? (depending on aspect ratio), and have been pretty happy with the video quality. But lately I've been encoding with AC3 sound, and the file sizes are getting a bit big.
I'm playing the files off a HDD, so I'm not limited to CD sizes. I've been trying to keep the files around 1Gb. Playback is on a standard definition TV (Sony Wega), but I'll probably go HDTV one of these days. One of the reasons I chose 640x??? is that some HDTV's support 640x480 natively (if that really matters?).
Anyway, I was wondering how low you can go in bitrate and resolution without losing too much quality?
