View Full Version : scrambled mpa

I generated a mpa file with dvd2avi which would play ok with wmp6.4

Inadvertently, I (apparently) appended a wav header with mp3wav to this file.

Now it does no longer play with wmp6.4 AND ... it resists Besweet in that the program crashes immediately. :-(

Suggestions to remedy this situation are highly welcome. The mpa is 300MB, btw.

please upgrade to BeSweet v1.3b8 and try again.

aaaah... this is what I forgot to mention ... I gtried this first (after reading the sticky messages). The latest version of bsweet
tries to resync forever and produces no crash but an "empty" wav file.

I guess, I will have to produce that mpa file just once more :-(

madplay is a very good mpa decoder

if you're just interesed in removing the wav header, you could try to do that with "wavemp3", or simply use a hexeditor and remove the first 10bytes of the file. (make sure the extension is mpa).

just to finish this off: hexediting the file did not help a lot, since a) it took ages to save the edited file (maybe I got a poor hexeditor) and b) I could not remove superfluous parts precisely since I did not know the original beginning of the mpa file.

So I had to prepare that file again. I could convert it then with besweet into a wav file and include everything into the avi with vd.

It would appear, however, that the resulting file, although playing both vid and aud well, had a slow "shift" between sound and picture
getting these off more and more as one approaches the end of the movie.

Perhaps this is related to the fact that besweet was quite often "resyncing", although it did not crash.
