I noted two things in the DivX5 guide that I'm not sure of. First, when saving the first-pass job, I get a message that the fast-recompress option may cause problems with some codecs. This warning should probably be mentioned in the guide. I assumed everything was alright and selected to continue. We will find out tomorrow if that was wrong.

Second, after copying the video bitrate to the video codec configuration, at the biggining of the VirtualDub firstpass, should I close Gordian Knot?

That's just VirtualDub. Nothing to worry about. If you started Vdub from Gknot I would leave it running.

Thanks for the response. The guides a very thorough, so I was concerned when the warning came up.
