I am having a problem with the audio on some AVI (DivX) files. The movie (picture) plays fine, but the audio does not play at all.
I opened the file in Virtual dub, and file information says that the compression is “Unknown (tag 0161)” and “Channels: 2 (stereo)” . When I try to play the movie, it gives me error:
Error initializing audio stream decompression:
The requested conversion is not possible.
Check to make sure you have the required codec (Microsoft Audio Codec).
I have downloaded the latest codec bundle for WMP8, but it didn’t help. I have also tried downloading a bunch of other codecs, as well as audio software out there, but so far no luck.
Have anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it.
