Whenver I try to rip either one of these DVDs the whole thing doesnt get ripped. I have tried the internal routines, Vstrip and Smartripper. What ends up happening for Clerks is that the only about 40 mins of 70 ends up getting ripped. Its a 2 DVD set and the total time for the both of them is 136 mins. For the Simpsons pretty much the same thing ends up happening. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this? If you need any more info please ask. I will post the log file when I get home as I am at work now :(

Thanks
Jason

Are you asking how to combine the encode from 2 seperate DVD's or is it only ripping part of the video from one DVD?

If it's how to combine, read the Q + A.

Q41: HOWTO combine/encode 2 disc DVD set as one movie.

I am sorry that I was unclear. What I meant was in Clerks the total time for the 2 DVD set is approx 135 mins. That is about 68 mins per DVD. When I rip either one of the DVDs I only get about 40 mins of the cartoon. That means that I am missing about 25 mins. That is the problem that I am having. The same thing happens to the Simpsons 1st season DVD set.

First thing you should be doing is the internal routines then try vstrip, if that fails try another ripper see if any of them work for you, let us know if anything worked.

I can’t speak for “Clerks,” but “The Simpsons” disc is likely to be similar to other tv episodic DVD’s where each episode is a chapter. DVD2SVCD and most other rippers tend to select the chapter with the longest length as “the movie” that you want to rip. So, The Simpsons disc has 5 episodes (chapters) and the ripper is probably just selecting the longest chapter instead of all 5. You can get around this by ripping with Smartripper (and I’m sure other rippers) by selecting all the vob files in lieu of the longest chapter or “movie.” However, you may have to create your chapters manually for your CD image with this method because DVD2SVCD tends to still want to select only the longest chapter from the ripped .ifo file.
This can be seen as either a strength or weakness in the program depending on how you are trying to build your discs. With most 1 hour length episodes, this is a strength because your target cd image will likely be one cd-r per episode. But this is a problem if you want to fit something like 2 qty. ½ hour episodes on a single cd-r disc. I believe manual chapter building or splicing is required with this approach.

I found out what was going on. GreenDrazi was right. When you use D2S to rip a cartton set like Clerks, it rips it using the longest .ifo file thinking its the movie. What you have to do is rip each episode seperatly (by selecting a diff length in the conversion tab and movie length drop down) or do like Green said and rip all the VOB files and then make your own chapters. For Clerks I am going to just rip them seperatly and use 6 CDs (there is only 6 episodes). For the Simpsons I would like to make my own chapters, but I dont know how to do it. If anyone has any ideas on a good program to use or a guide that can help me out can you please let me know? Thanks

Download TSCV, it is a good GUI for VCDImager. With this you can set title picture, intro/extro, chapters and much more.
