When I see the joint work being made with XviD everywhere I get VERY excited.
I envy the talent and efforts that are driving this forward, and I can only glare in awe at the work being presented and wish that I was reborn a programmer with the dignity of the people involved in this.
THANK YOU! And keep up the good work! You are making a difference! :)
In an ideal world, there WOULD be an open source project for video encoding like xvid going on, where people work for people for free, providing real alternatives that do not come at the cost of freedom. But this is not an ideal world, and yet, there exists a project like xvid. I don't know how or why that is, but it does make the world a better place in my eyes
I do not think that making the world a better place is the only thing the developers are thinking of, if they are thinking of that at all (they have different motives I suppose, the strongest one probably being pleasing the intellect), but that matters little; because they are, whether it's on purpose or not, making the world a better place. Okay, so it's just a video encoder and won't end wars or anything, but it DOES actually make a real difference in my life, and hey, that's more than good enough for me. :D I am very glad that I do not have to use encoders from divx and microsoft anymore.
(come to think of it, if more people were busy encoding stuff, there probably wouldn't be time left for wars )

Ok. Ok. Someone has not been reading the signs. "Don't feed the coders." Distracting them from their natural environment could alter their behavior to their detrement.
:D hehehehe :D
Just kidding guys. Keep up the good work!
