View Full Version : BeSweet & HeadAC3he :Quality differences? (NO Flamewar)
Hi!
Before my question is canceled I want to emphasize that this is NOT a call to begin a new flamewar.
I ONLY want objective comparisons and if this is impossible I only want to know that.
Thank you!
(Excuse me; I have to be strict cause I'm afraid the moderatos will cancel this)

BeSweet, HeadAC3he doesn't actually ENCODE to vorbis. they deliver the samples to vorbis encoding dlls.
if the dlls are from the same date, there's no difference.
OK!
Thank you for your reply. After that I think I have to define more exactly what I want from you:
Is there an objective quality difference between Besweet and HeadAC3he relative to the AC3 decoding and sound compression. It seems to me that they use different methods to use Azid. Is there a difference?
Thank you again

As far as I know, both programs use azid.dll, lame.dll, and vorbis.dll to do all the encoding, so there is no difference in the output as long as you use the same dll version with both programs. choose whichever one is prettier or something, cause they're both great programs. :-)

the programs differ by features, interfaces & speed.
regarding quality - like the LotionBoy said, we're only using 3rd party dlls..

To be most precise a minor difference may result from compilation, but other than that, there is no real difference.

true, different makefiles (compiler switches) can affect the total filesize of the encoded track.
