@doom9: Is that true, did you really compare with a version 5.01 of DivX?? On divx.com they provide only a 5.0, I guess. Or did they change the versions secretly?

Yes it's true, and you can't find it because it hasn't been realesed yet.

quote from the article DivX5.01 (private test version)
private = you can't get it, test = it's not finished yet... the sum of that makes it a private beta

what was fixed in your 5.01?

here's the changelog even though I think it's completely useles.. the build is not ready for release and there could be considerable changes until it's ready.. so what good does a changelog for a program you can't get?

You can manually play around with the psychovisual modeling with the command
line interface. All you have to do is enter in the following;

-psy 0.10,0.10

This determines the strength of the Psych. The first number adjusts each
frame at a "frame" level. The second number will then adjust everything on a
macroblock by macroblock basis. Light='s 0.2,0.2 , Normal ='s 0.3,0.3,
Strong ='s 0.4,0.4 . These setting are to strong with the changes. So I
will lower each one probably by 0.1. So Light would be 0.1,0.1.

Fixed Bugs
-----------

Using crop or resize funtions causes garbled output in both AVI and MP4 files

virtual dub crashes or dissapears after first pass when using resize and crop
features

Bilinear resize does not always work correctly
Intelligent IVTC and 2-pass don't work together
"All Frames Interlace" not active/working
DivX.dll not decoding 3.11 content directly.
Basic Deinterlace Crashes On P4
PV Artifacts/Smearing Yes it is broken!
Data Partitioning with PV causes severe artifacts
Content NOT divisible by 16 may have artifacts
Resize Crashes when expanding
GMC Produces Artifacts
Direct Show filter does not use overlay on Matrox Milllennium G400 win2k
1 Pass Encoding with DirectShow (for example, video capture) based
applications give more accurate bitrate.
