What you are hearing is either Dolby surround or Dolby prologic, both of which are derived from 2 channel stereo sound. Basically if you want to duplicate this audio then simply do a surround sound downmix when you author your svcds. Most conventional audio encoding methods allow for this, ie: azid, dvd2avi etc...

The svcd standard does allow for multichannel mpeg audio, which supports I believe up to 7.1 channels and is literally as good a quality as Dolby Digital, but unfortanately the hardware support is very limited. I think only Philips dvd players can correctly export the correct signal but you may want to check out a thread on it in the Audio forum just to be sure.

Just use the ones on www.doom9.net. Personally I use BeSweet.

you can use a surround downmix. make sure to choose 'stereo' mode for channels.
