Please document more detailed how you did disc 2. Encoding, etc.

ripped the whole dvd to hard drive using dvdecrypter the used ifoedit v.9 to split into to dvd-r. selected the begining of program chain 3 as the split point. copy all other files to each folder and get vts sectors. disk one works fine, and disk two menus load up fine, but when you select an episode or a chapter it starts at the wrong loacation or the wrong episode. for example, to watch episode 3 you would have to select the menu for episode one which isn't even on this disk. i don't know if i explained this to well being new to all this but will provide any aditional information that is required to solve this.

thanks!

I think you forgot to adjust the number of chapters in the VIDEO_TS.IFO

Quote from Doom9's guide:

Step 3: Adjust the number of chapters

The number of chapters in the main movie .IFO file has already been adjusted during the splitting procedure but the number of chapters is also written down in VIDEO_TS.IFO. So open this file on the first DVD in IfoEdit.......

Give that a try.

i tried that already, following the guides. my guess is it has something to do with a starting offset, but i could be wrong. any suggestions?

Thamks!

mach1, That's about all I could think of. I'm pretty new to this myself. Sorry I couldn't help. Good Luck.

I understand what you mean. I ripped Training Day the other day and the total size was between 7-8GB so I decided to split to two DVDR's. I got everything to work but the chapter selection is screwed up. I was hoping that there is a fix to it. Anyway, the original has about 28 chapters, after using IfoEdit there are 14 chapters on each disc. So if I choose any chapter upto 14 on the first disc, all works fine. If I select anything above chapter 14 it freezes up. If I load Disc 2 and load any chapter above chapter 14 same thing. But if I select any of the chapters upto 14 on Disc 2, i can select chapters albeit it they aren't correct.

Is there a way to edit the chapter selection so that Disc 2 chapters will correspond to the correct ones. It would also be great that if I select a chapter that isn't on the Disc that I get a screen or message stating that it is on the other disc. I dont expect this to be automatic but there has to be some way of correcting it. Any ideas?
