I am trying to burn a split DVD to a DVD-R but it keeps failing both in the 'image" mode and using VIDEO_TS as a data disc. I am using RecordNow Max. I have successfully burned the test files using both methods, which works in my set top player, so I know my software, hardware and set top player are working.

The movie and opening title is located in VTS_01_1.VOB (Title 1).
The Dreamworks logo is located in VTS_05_1.VOB (Title 8).
The FBI warning is located in VTS_06_1.VOB (Title 9).

When you play the project in IfoEdit it plays fine and the Titles are 1,8,9. I moved over the VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.VOB files as well as all of the movie VOBs,IFOs,BUPs and finally the VOBs, IFOs, BUPs of the logo and FBI warning track. (Titles 8 & 9).

I know you don't have to move the VTS_XX_1.VOB files for the logo and the warning but they are small files and I moved them also.

Each time I burn the project it fails at the point after the movies files are burned - that is the VIDEO_TS files as well as the VTS_01_X.XXX files are successfully burned onto the DVD but the VTS_5_X.XXX files of the logo (Title 8) and VTS_6_X.XXX (Title 9)are not successfully burned. Any idea where the error is?

Try making an image of just the movie and see if that works, unless of course you want all the other rubbish that goes with it.

What is the error message you are getting from Prassi. It should be logged under the "show log" icon.

I too am having burning problems with Prassi, but mine is PrimoDVD.

I have been using Derrow's article that will allow me to create IFO files from VOB files. It seems a lot easier than some other methods.

I used the first VOB files from Final Fantasy and ended up with the following files:-

Name Size Type
Video_ts.bup 6KB BUP File
Video_ts 6KB IFO File
Vts_01_0.bup 22KB BUP File
Vts_01_0 22KB IFO File
Vts_01_1 1,048,514KB VOB File

I'm able to view the results in the IFO DVDPlay window, and also using PowerDVD, and even PrimoDVD allows the files to be written, but I get the following error after the burn, and when I try to play the DVD through PrimoDVD:-

"Error Code: 81200016

File formats on this DVD title are invalid "

The detailed error button shows the following:-

"File formats on this DVD title are invalid or this disc might have been damaged. In some rare cases, it might be that the DVD-ROM drive is incompatible with your disc.

Please try to play this DVD title on another platform or use the same platform but with a different DVD-ROM drive."

I am able to put PrimoDVD into file mode and play the movie files off my new burnt DVD, but it just won't play as a true DVD.

I would welcome any advice I can get.

I was never ever able to successfully burn that DVD. I split and burned Trained Day. This time I used Instant CD+DVD. I saved bothdiscs as VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS (blank) folders and burned it as a DATA Disc (UDF). It burned and plays in my set top box without problems.

kgipp,
I have the same problem as yours. So far I have managed to create two expensive coasters. I am using disks from meritline
http://www.meritline.com/pion47unwhit.html and http://www.meritline.com/dvdpro47buld.html. I am using IfoEdit same way as you are. Using PrimoDVD for burning and getting exactly the same error. Wish someone would help us out.
