I have successfully been able to burn a DVD using the test file (VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS) that I downloaded from Derrow's website (MPUCoder): I assume my DVD burner, burner software, and set top player are thus compatible with DVD copying.

I followed the Copy 1:1 tutorial for splitting a DVD into 2 DVD-Rs. I have corrected inserted the title files in both discs and both VIDEO_TS files play perfectly in IfoEdit using the DVD player.

I can't get the DVD to burn properly after this point. I followed the next step - "Get VTS Sectors" as described in the tutorial and the checklist and it won't burn properly. I tried to copy the VIDEO_TS as a data disc and to image the file using CouJo's program and IfoEdit but ran into great difficulty as it is very confusing.

My question is this: If I can get the 2 "discs" to play in IfoEdit's DVD player perfectly am I OK up to this point? - that is, the error is in the Sector addressing or the imaging or do I need to redo this part again?:-?

It sounds like you are OK up to the burning stage. To avoid forgetting something, my recipe is to copy all files from the source to destination directory 1 and directory 2, then delete out all the movie VOB files, except the *0.VOB file, and delete the movie IFO files. Then I decide if I want to delete out other *1.VOB and *2.VOB files, depending on staying under the 4.3 GB limit for the DVD burn. Then I let IfoEdit split the movie and put the movie IFO files and the *1.VOB, *2.VOB, etc. files from the movie in the 2 destination directories. Then I do a GET VTS for each directory on the VIDEO_TS.IFO file (also correct the number of chapters as described in the guide either before or after GET VTS) and I am done. Then I can burn. For burning, I use Gear Pro, using the DVD-ROM (ISO/UDF) project (not the Video DVD project, which doesn't work with Ifoedit modified files). Gear Pro always burns the files in correct order and lists out the sectors on the DVD track where each of the files starts, so you can see that the files are contiguous as required by DVD video specifications to play in a set top player. Although Gear Pro cost me $150, at least I stopped making coasters using Nero and other burning programs. Hope you get your burning program to work.
