I noticed a power supply message but I thought I would start my own.

I am going to purchase a XP1900 and a ECS K7S5A mb to upgrade my computer. (I know but I think the ecs board is cool, Cheap, and reviews have all been great, also I have pc133 ram now and with this board I can run it till DDR comes down and I can replace the PC133 with ddr).

Anyways, I presently have a DEER 250w PS, been a good PS, but I know it won't do for the new mb/cpu...

I have
10x dvd (generic)
8x lite-on CD-RW
40gig 7200 rpm HD
Capture card
Network
Modem
Gainward geforce3 ti200
phllips soundcard... (allways forget the name of it the surrond sound one)

I am looking for a very affordible PSU with some deal of relibility, but also I am on a College student budget (Poor)...

If anyone could give me a suggestion I would be very appretitive.

These mobos require a good PSU
or else you have endless problems.
Find a cheap 400w PSU and stick it in.
the cost should be about $30........

some people here (http://www.amdmb.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?forumid=24) can probably tell you exactly if there are any specific psu's you should avoid with this board.

btw. not to make you panic, just as a warning, read what I just found there on this board, posted by the forum's moderator:The K7S5A beyond doubt, had "underdesigned" power handling capabilities, since the power supply problem is so apparent in this MB. The real question, will be the longevity of the boards, that weren't used with anything but a "high quality" power supply that the board likes. I can already guess, that the boards used with marginal power supplies, will have short life spans, since the board doesn't seem to have the ability to correct even minor deficiancies that are power related. So be careful what you buy. Those high powered DDR systems can be very touchy ;)
