I cant seem to get a backup to play on my PS2. I have been following Derrow's guides but for some reason my PS2 wont read it.

Here is what I have been doing:
-Rip the whole dvd to hd using DVD Decryptor
-Use VOB extras in IfoEdit on the main movie file to make new VOB files
-I then copy a video_ts.vob file into my folder (since mine doesnt have one)
-I then close down IfoEdit and reopen it.
-I do a "Get VTS Sectors" on the video_ts file.
-Close and reopen IfoEdit again
-Then do the "Get VTS Sectors" on the video_01 file

I have tried buring with both Nero and Prassi, but both with no success. I have made sure that everything is in CAPS and also added a blank audio_ts folder to burn.

The discs will work fine in my computer, but I cant seem to get it to read in my PS2.

I dont think it is the media I am using. It is a Memorex DVD-RW, but I have read many posts saying the DVD-RW will work on a V5 PS2 board (which is what I have).

What could I be doing wrong? Or not doing? so that I cant get this to work.

You did everything perfect.

But it could be the memorex media! Someone else just reported me pixelating effects, but with a momorex DVD-R.
Don't know if the DVD-RW from memorex are better.

Another question: The movie you backuped. Was it already a DVD-5, lower then 4.38 GB ?

I guess it was not, cause you have used VobExtras.

Try it with a DVD that already is under 4.38 GB.
This one you only need to rip, then do a Get VTS Sectors in IfoEdit, and then burn it.
It should work perfect.

I will have to try to find a smaller dvd then, the only ones I have are way over. Do you have any suggestions for a good DVD (under 4.7gb) that I could rent and try it with.

Also, I tried to make a disc image with IfoEdit, but doing it from the vts_01 file. Is that how I am supposed to do it?

Then I try to burn it with Prassi, and it say my file exceeds 4.0 gb. Is there any way around this.

I also cant get Gear DVD 6.0 to work. When I try to test a file (any file) it says:
Drive and media check was not successful.
SCSI Selection timeout occurred.
Check cable and power.
It does recognize my drive and the firmware at the bottom of the screen, and I dont think its the media because I tried it with a Pioneer disc. What else could be causing this?

Well it turns out that my PS2 (V5) wont play DVD-RW's. I was doing everything right for that past month now, how frustrating. I finally took them to my parents and tried them in their standalone, and the DVD-RW's worked perfectly. So when I burnt the file to a DVD-R it played perfect in my PS2 also. These players will accept DVD-RW just fine:
Toshiba SD-K600
Pioneer DV-333
and Portable Panasonic LA-95
