I have a movie that is so long, it takes up 2 DVD's, but I suspect ifoedit will be helpfull here...

I want to back it up to one DVD (using ReMPEG2) but how do I merge the 2 seperate DVD's into one stream??

the movie is Lawrence of Arabia....

hmm ... their may be a better way but ... you may need to inport both halves into an authoring prog in order to get a video_ts.ifo that sees both sets.

What I've done is as follows:
I loaded the vobs from both DVDs into DVD2AVI and used the saved project file converted into .avi with VFAPIConv program.
I processed it in CCE and used pulldown, multiplexed it, and then authored it in DVD Wise.

Hope this helps.

this is what I am going to try....

put all the Vobs in a folder withOUT any ifo or bup files, rename the disk2 VOB's so that they follow disk1's VOB files...

then, re-write the IFO's with IFOedit!!

hope it works...

of course then, I have to deal with a 7.5 gig vid file that is already stripped

This will work only if the vobs of the 2nd DVD have a different VOB-ID.

But you can use the new VobEdit to correct this:

what if they both have vob id 1?
this is my problem w/ lawrence of arabia. i am trying to merge disc 1 (dual layer) with disc 2 (DVD-5). this is my first time merging stuff.

i guess what im really asking is how to "correct this" I'm a stranger to VOB edit. the only way i could find to cahnge the vob id is to select the hundreds of nav packs and change them all one by one. there's gotta be aother way.

@davepyne

Yes, and it is called MenuEdit 2.1.0 (http://menuedit.dimad.net) :)

Thanks to VidHack changing vob/cell ids is available in free version as well.

@Derrow

Happy to see you on the forum, your tool is still the best. I've used your guide for joining dvds (changin vob id) and almost everything is gone well. Just one problem: subtitle color and aspect has changed (it was white text, now it is green and also font seems to be different). I have created ifos with ifoedit (I've tried using 'get vts sector' but it didn't enqueued new chapters to the movie...).
Any workaround, please? Could you tell me where I have to see (with Ifoedit) to change subtitle color? (so I could see what's changed from original ifos).

Thanks

Oh muy god, just seen that Derrow answer was giden in March..., anyone has an idea to help me?
