I've been encoding DVDs by using the DivX 4.x guide (using SmartRipper->DVD2AVI->TMPGEnc->VFAPI->VirtualDub->Nandub). When I open the .vob files with BSPlayer, I get to choose what I want the aspect ratio to be: Original, 16:9, or 4:3. I choose original becuz that's what it's supposed to look like. So when I choose original, there is black bars in full screen mode, about an inch tall, on the top and bottom. In 4:3, the picture is stretched to fit the whole screen, which isn't the way its supposed to look.
My problem is this: when I use DVD2AVI and "save project" to get the .d2v file, the result comes out as 4:3 with the stretched picture. And when I do widescreen movies, they have a 1-inch black bars instead of two-inch black bars (and the picture is once again stretched, but this time to the 1-inch black bars instead of two-inch black bars). How can I fix this problem so that I can create the movie as a DivX in its original aspect ratio instead of a stretched picture?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I'm encoding about 4-6 movies/week, so I'd like to be doing them right.
