I have encoeded at least 10 movies with rempeg, and i have been satisfied with the results. Well since then i have installed a bunch of different programs that use the Mpeg-2 codedc (I am not sure if this is the problem). Anyway i just did an encode of Pretty Woman, the exact same way i always have, and the video gets strange in spots, IE like i encoded it in REALLY poor quality, but it only does this for 3 or 4 frames then goes back to good quality. it does this in certain spots throught the movie and it will go back and forth like this for 2 or 3 minutes bouncing from good to bad quality. Anyone seen this before, or think this is codec related?

I've had nothing but problems with ReMPEG. I've only managed to get one movie to encode properly without any problems. Most other movies have the same quality problems that you describe, as well as a noticible 'flicker' at about 2Hz that seems to happen every time an I frame goes by (the quality is noticably better, hence the flicker). I haven't seen any fixes for this yet. My most recent problem is that now when I try to use it, it just sits there and does nothing after I click encode.

It's a shame that the author disappeared, the program has much potential, but it still needs a LOT of work. You might want to try CCE. It's more complicated right now, but given some time, CCE encodes will be almost as easy to hande as ReMPEG.
