I bought a DVD recently and wanted to copy it to my PC (plays smoother).

Used Smartripper and then Ripitall, which gave me 3 resultant files: "audio" "compaudio" "movie".

I can play the movie, but cannot work out how to combine the movie and audio so they movie plays sound!

I am a newbee to this, so would appreciate help as to what I do now please. I tried playing the movie file in PowerDVD as well as WMP8 (which I prefer), and got the same result.

What do I do now please?

Use "Backup Mode" of SmartRipper to rip the whole DVD to your HD. Then you can load the "Video_ts.ifo" file in PowerDVD to watch it with all menus and extras directly from your HD.

This works only in PowerDVD 4.0. If you use an earlier version of PowerDVD or WinDVD you must create the "Video_ts" directory in the root of your HD and specify your HD as DVD drive.

Thanks for the advice.

Found that the video and audio can be combined with Nandub fine, then played via WMP8 fine.

Is this the best software to do this?

Is the sound in a separate file after you rip it with Smartripper? After I rip a dvd with Smartripper I use PowerDVD3.0 to play the movie and I don't have to do anything about the sound. I change PowerDVD to File mode, click Menu and load all the resultant .vob files from the rip and just play it. The sound has always worked for me.

Yes, that works, but I was after a file that you just click on and it runs complete (in WMP8); so the sound has to be ripped into the movie. Kepps file size down!
