View Full Version : How to cut out the credits in a vob file...

I know this may sound like a stupid question but I've got a rip that's 4,771,000,000 bytes in length and I just need to cut it down about 71MB. I think that cutting out the credits at the end of the film will do the job, but I'm not sure exactly how to just snip the VOB file at this point and have it still work?

I know that I can de-mux the video, clip it and re-mux it, but then the audio won't match. Maybe I'm on to something but I'm not sure.

I'm familiar with the process of ripping, using rempeg2 to transcode video and using ifoedit .88 to strip unwanted extras, etc from vob files so I'm at least on that level of expertise, although I don't profess to be an "Expert."

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know of a program that will allow overburning of a DVD-R disc? The above film is just a wee bit too big to fit and I'd like to just burn it anyway, assuming that the small part that won't fit will just be the film credits. I use Nero 5.5.7.2 which "claims" to be able to overburn and the drive I use (DVR-A03) claims it supports this as well, but I can't do it. With the expert features turned on, nero still won't let me burn 4,771,000,000 bytes of data on a blank disc.

Any ideas or other programs I can maybe use that will simply burn the stupid data and not care about size limitations, where it will just stop when it hits the end of the recordable area?

Thanks
Ryan

you can use Vobmerge
or Merge & Cut in Tmpg (Mpeg tools)

The credits are usually the very last chapter.
Rip the disc using SmartRipper and select all the chapters except the last one. Would this not work?

I've got now the best method to do this!

Use VobEdit 0.4, and demux/split the last VOB file into it's Cell's.
Then just leave the last cell's, that are containing the credits away, and join the other cell's back together with VobEdit to a regular VOB file.
And you're done.

Have a look at my guide for demuxing/joinging cells:

Actually just cutting 71meg will most likely not be enough as I think there is only 4.3gig available on a DVD-R. Definately no more than 4.4gig.
