Hi there, were's what i'm trying to do:
I have one ripped dvd, allready in disk, with *.ifo, *.vob files..
and.. I want to use divx5 for image encoding and ogg vorbis codec for audio encoding.
why this choise?
1) divx5 uses much less space and has a very good image quality (i'm using 1-pass 1055bitrate with QP+DB+QMP)
2) ogg vorbis simply kicks ass, very very small, and very high quality.
So basically, these are the best codecs around in quality/size ratio.
Problem:
I can't make any tool encode audio to ogg vorbis codec, although I have installed:
OggDS.exe
OggCut.exe (i believe that this is for something else..)
SubTitDS.exe
the closer I got was:
1) encoded image to divx5 with xmpeg 4.2a, and sound went to Audio_file.ac3(but i think that it only contains one of many streams.. because xmpeg made me choose one audio stream)
2)..and then encoded Audio_file.ac3 into Audio_file.ogg..
3) used Graphedit to join audio and video.. but it's offsync..
4) the file can only be played in OggCut.exe.. (don't know how to pass it to a avi playable file.
So, basically, i believe that 2 things are missing (not counting my lack of knowledge :)
- some weird program that would install and activate ogg vorbis codec so that I can select it(in audio compression) in xmpeg, VirtualDub.. or some other divx encoding program.
- one encoding program that does what I pretend (I believe it's possible, and should exist since this is the most wise combination of codecs..reasons stated above)
OR
+ some way off syncronizing sound and video
+ and.. translating the file that graphedit creates to divx/avi playable file.
some other things that i'm looking for...
1) a bitrate calculator for divx5
2) what's the best divx player around(fast, subtitle support, resizeable to 4:3, 16:9, original, fullscreen, double size..etc)?
3) how to fix downloaded divx that don't play in Divx Player 2 alpha (already tried divfix but..no avail)
4) is there any actual review of "ripped dvd" to divx encoders, after all the things I've read, i still don't know wich one is the best. (VERY IMPORTANT THAT IS SMP CAPABLE..for my dual-athlonMP machine)
Thanx in advance to everyone!
