Hi Derrow,
some strange things appear...

I have ripped Tomb Raider via DVD Decrypter and than normally with IfoEdit 0.9.
I have chosen the DTS Audiotrack in German only with no Subtitles.
After processing and clicking on Codefree and GetVTSSector i have checked all with the dvdplay button and PowerDVD XP and all works fine.
I burned the DVD with RecordNoe Max 3.01.
I put the film in my Standalone Pioneer DV-444 and it plays fine.
So far so good :)

Now the problem:
I give the DVD-R to my friend. He have also the same Pioneer DV-444 and a DTS Receiver as i, but no Surround Box System. And he have no sound. The picture is fine.
We put the DVD in the PC DVD Rom and we have the same problem.Picture is fine but no sound.
Back at home i put it for a second check in my Player and it works again fine with picture and DTS sound.
Than i put it in my PC DVD Rom (a scsi device) and it doesn't recognize that there is a DVD in.Also my other scsi normal cd-rom comes up with flickering lights :)
Finally i put it in my pioneer ide burner and it plays fine with picture and sound...

Btw...: I have burned many Movies and all run fine in my standalone player. But i have no other DTS Movie, all are DD 5.1.

So could it be, that DTS have after ripping and streaming some problems ?.
I have copied the Film after this problems through my pioneer burner back to my harddisk and from hd it plays also fine.

If you need more Informations let me know...
And sorry for my bad english.I know that you can german, but i thought, that maybe other readers have the same problem or only want to read the forum :).I hope you can understand my "nice" grammatical english *G*.

Hi from Germany too,

perhaps we could make a kind of "German private room", because my English is quite bad also, no, no, just joking about the room...

But back to your question, i think the problem is, that you only have got the DTS track on your DVD, when you donīt have a DTS Decoder you donīt have a chance (as far as i know) to hear anything, a DD5.1 track for example can be downsampled by every player to normal Dolby Surround or Stereo, so perhaps you have do to something with the receiver of your friend...

The problems in your computer "configuration" (different drives...) i donīt understand really, do your SCSI Drives normaly play with this type of media?...

But good luck and again happy to meet someone from Germany who is also (at least a little bit) addicted to DVD.. ;)))

Greetings
Borka

Hi Borka (and the rest of the pack :) ),
that what you say is the same i think (but i don't know if it the solution).

I have, before i see this problem, not checked the movies in my PC Drives, because i only want, that it runs on my Standalone :).
And i can't check the original movies, coz they all have a "normal" DD 5.1 or DD 2.0 or DD 1.0 audio track on it plus a DTS audio track.

If i have a original dvd that only contains a DTS audio track, than i can check it out, if this a problem from the DTS audio track or maybe from IfoEdit.

But if i think about it, i came to the solution that no original movie dvd have this, but if anyone knows a movie which contains only a DTS audio track let me know, so i can check it.

The problem is just the DTS decoder. If you don't have one, then you won't hear the audio.

My Pioneer DV535 doesn't have a DTS decoder integrated, and also my Soundworks Surround by creative can't decode DTS.
So when I choose the DTS stream on my pioneer, I don't hear anything.

But PowerDVD and my DVD Player in IfoEdit too :) can decode DTS.

There's another point I'm not sure about. I thought I've readen somewhere that a DVD must contain beside the DTS stream also an AC3 stream, or it would be against the DVD specification.
But I am not so sure about that. Maybe someone else knews more about it.

@Derrow
Thx for the reply

I have thought (but i don't like it :)) that this is the problem.

Meanwhile i have checked my original dvd's.I have around ten with DTS audio track. All have a minimum of a DD 2.0 audio track in addition
to the DTS audio track.
Now i understand why all DVD have for the same language a DTS and also a minimum DD 2.0 audio track on the dvd.
Before this i thought that it doesn't play a role.

Now i must rip all dvd again that contains only DTS :) (my friends want "listen" to them too hehe)
But we all learn every day a little bit more...
So practice makes the master

@Derrow

Yeah, you are right about the DVD specification, at least some kind of DD Track must be on it to fullfill it (or the dead MPEG as far as i know...) Thanks for the perfect program again...Greetings Borka
