View Full Version : DVDit, or TMPGenc? Or what?

Had trouble with a movie loaded into DVDit locking up the computer. I got a hint from this forum, and tried de-multiplexing the clip with Virtual Dub BEFORE converting the audio to a wav file, and then using the original video clip and my audio wav file for the TMPGenc process.
NOW....when I loaded into DVDit, it does NOT lock up my machine any more (which is good).....but a warning window came up that said, "decoder not found, please make sure proper decoder is installed)

I'm claiming victory because of the extreme number of reboots that I've endured, and at least this time it didn't lock up the machine, but now I'm not sure what it's talking about.
I have uninstalled, and reinstalled both TMPGenc and DVDit, so I'm not sure whether I've somehow screwed up a codec, or what.

I think this is pretty simple....please diagnose and post!!!!!!
Thanks!

I should also tell you that the TMPGenc clip plays fine with video AND audio in Media Player. That's why I don't understand why DVDit says the proper decoder is not found. ????????????

It is just a general error code for something DVDit doesn't understand.

Is it a DVD compliant mpeg stream? Is the picture size correct regarding to your tv standard?

Is the audio 48khz?

Is the total value under 9.8Mbit/s?

Is the GOP structure correct regarding to your tv-standard?

Try to use Tmgenc to demux it again.

It is a DVD compliant stream.....and as a matter of fact, I didn't think I was doing anything different than I've done before when I did this successfully. I think I'm missing something simple, but just can't figure it out.
The audio wav stream was loaded with the video divx file when I started encoding with TMPGenc. AT LEAST this time, it didn't lock up DVDit when I tried to load it.
Please advise.

download BitrateViewer from http://www.tecoltd.com/bitratev.htm

You can take a look at your mpeg.

I will do that when I get home shortly.
Can I do the same with the "file information" section of Virtual-dub?
I've already got in loaded.

Also....what IF the bit rate is 'off'?

I remember making sure that I set the audio wav at 48,000 when I saved the wav file.
Sorry so ignorant about this stuff. I was doing well, then suddenly everything went to hell.

If the bitrate is to high than you gonna get an error during compiling.

Remember 9.8 is for the hole stream with audio and subtitle.

I know there is a problem with certain versions of DVDIt that gives this error message if you have dual displays. It's been a lot of discussion on it on the Sonic support site and the latest upgrade fixes the problem. If you don't have two displays then it's something else but I just thought I'd mention this so you don't spend a lot of time analyzing your files just to find out that something entirely else is the source of the problem.
