I am trying to make a dvd from a film i already have on vcd.
I am useing TMPG-ENC to split the audio and convert it to 4800hz and then Avestensione to patch the xx.m2v so SpruceUp will except it ,I drop the xx.m2v and the xx.mpa into SpruceUp make a small menu then i try it in simulation and it works great. I then burn the disc but it just won`t play properly the sound can be heard fine but the picture jumps up and down on my pc dvdrom player and on my stand alone dvd player, the menu works fine but as soon as i try and play the film again the sound can be heard but the picture is garbled. I have tried different films, different media but am still getting the same effect .I have been doing this for a week now and don`t want to give up i must be doing something wrong some help would be most appreciated...:( :(

Even though Avestensione patches the m2v to a dvd-compliant resolution, the original resolution must still be compliant with something that your DVD player can decode, ie...if your player can play svcd's, you would want the original m2v to be at a 480x480 resolution...or if it can play VCD's than it should be at 352x240 (if thats vcd res, cant recall)...if there is a different problem at hand, then I cant say I know what it is...but I came across the same problem when testing out some xdvd and xvcd resolutions, just to see what my player could decode properly.

uhh, the DVD spec will allow you to use 352x288 (PAL, cant remember the pal res, its either 200 or 240), and should (ill check that later) let you use mpeg-1 files as well, which means a perfectly good VCD should be able to be used in a DVD project, it just wont look any better, but you can have nice hi res menus :)
