I also burned a DVD which plays on my computer but fails to play on my set top box. I am using the Panasonic LF-311 with Nero 5.5.7.2 (though I saw a recent upgrade to 5.5.7.8) to burn DVD-Rs. My set top box is a Sony DVP-NS700 which is DVD-R compatible according to the tables at vcdhelp.com. One question I have is the using the tutorials, in the "final adjustments" page Step 4 is it necessary to create a DVD image when using Nero or can one go directly to Step 5 : Burn the DVD after the Get VTS Sectors are complete? :(

I've seen numoerous of post where people are saying that Nero is causing a lot of problems. Try InstantDVD or any other dvd burning software. And about that step 4 - I'm not sure cause I don't have dvd-burner. Try each method and see what is best.

hehe your lucky .. some of my dvd-s from that drive will only play in that drive , and i have a dvd-rom on the same system as the burner and guess what .. only the burner can read some of my dvd's ... for the most part it's the cheaper dvd's so i'm chalking it up to "you get what you pay for"
