Thank you auenf. I am not clear whether 6mb is meant as constant bit rate or constant Quality bit rate. What 8*60*90 mean?Your answer will be appreciated.

mbit/s = megabits per second. Divide by 8 and you get Megabytes per second. Then multiply by seconds (60) to get Megabytes per minute and then you multiply by the movie length in minutes and you get the size in megabytes.
or in formal terms:
[mbit/s]*[s]*8=[mbit]*8=[mbytes]
as the length is given in seconds you need to convert the length of the movie into seconds which you do by multiplying the length in minutes (90) by 60.

what doom9 said ;)
and the 6mbit figure just means that the average bitrate for the whole file, whether that be CBR or VBR, the 4050MB figure gives you about 400+MB left over for your audio, menus and whatever else you need, and i think you'll find that you wont even need to go as high as 6mbit with almost all encoders that are available.

I just use the One pass option in Cinemacraft, lowest bitrate at 0 and highest at 9,800, Chops movie filesize by half, while retaining DVD like quality

I absolutely agree. With everything below or equal to Q:30 you hardly will see any difference to the original. Even if using a big beamer in progressive mode !
