wouldn't that be a nice idea for a new program. that came to my mind when browsing the Divx Forum, and when i read about all these exotic programs i've never heard about... i thought: wouldn't it be nice to have one frontend for all those like dvd2svcd.
And since there are no major bugs left in d2s maybe this would be an interesting new challenge for d2s :D
ps: plz dont move this post to the divx forum because i would like to read the responses of the ppl here :)

There is already a facility to convert AVI2SVCD in D2S 1.0.6 onwards.
I have tried it and could convert one DivX avi to SVCD without a hitch ( My favorite MR BEAN - MOVIE !! ). The second one failed giving me error that the audio is corrupt. This second file had wave embedded mp3 added for audio.
I think if AVI2SVCD would let us select external audio track then this program would be a killer.
There is also this CCE freezing problem that happens with some AVIs. This problem is there for a long time and isnt related to AVI part of the program.
I have tried using safe mode as well as reducing the bitrate to 2000 but nothing helped. Would try some more and see.
P.S. - I think there is Gordion Knot and a few others that let u make divx directly from a dvd ?????

I think Vidomi is what you want. They are politically unpopular but they have a decent solution for you.

And why are they are "politically unpopular" ?

my bass: thanks for the link
Anyone know what EasyDivX uses to decode the mpeg2 source video? I'm just looking in the easydivx directory right now and I do notice mpeg2avi.dll and mpeg2avi2.dll, both the same size of 204,800 bytes. I guess I'm just curious as to the overall technique utilized (i.e. how much of the application is actually .dll files from others)

Check out FairUse and Madrona right here on Doom9. The two together are a perfect step by step no hassle DVD to Divx solution and take little to no thought.
Easy Divx is faster, but doesn't do as good a job...it doesn't let you crop for one thing.
