View Full Version : Player crash when playing avi with credits encoded at "10% rate"

I have encoded a movie, and had the Xvid codec setup to encode the credits at 10% rate. Now when I play the movie, it crashes when going from the quality based encoding, to the 2-pass encoding...

Which XviD build did you use?
Which DSF version?

Build was : 05032002 , and I played it with the included DSF, and also with the DSF included with the latest build... Both Zoomplayer and BSplayer crash at the same point, in the beginning of the movie (start credits) and at the end of the movie (end credits). The rest of the movie plays fine...
offtopic : great work by the way, now that the CPU-usages dropped so much I can finally play the Xvid encoded movies at my girls' house :D
Hrm that's scary.. so you did an internal 2-pass encode with credits specified at 10%? I have no idea how that could crash it.. could you try with the latest build?

Yes, I'm encoding the movie again using the latest release. I should be ready in 3 hours or so...

Hi,
I got the problem yesterday, I used the last build and I got a player crash when I try to encode credits with Quant 19 on high complexity frames. Xvid DSF is involved cause when I change Fourcc to Divx the player don't crash anymore

Sygma or anyone:
Is there any way you could chop out the little bit that causes the crash & send it to me?
Cheers,

Well OMX's definitley crashes, (its not a problem ive caused though :) , as it happens with the original DSF)...So it may well be a core decoding problem..... :( its a divide by zero error (apparently)
Ill look into it I guess :)

I just finished encoding the movie again with the same settings, and now the players (Bsplayer and Zoomplayer) don't crash anymore... So it looks like it's fixed... first I thought I might had to do with the ABR encoded audio, but bot with and without audio didn't crash...

i have the same bug, as discussed...
but some more hints :
this bug only appears on one single build, but I dont know, which build it is exactly....the movie with this bug is encoded at february 25th so it must be a build before this date...perhabs this helps.
