View Full Version : Swordfish + I-Author ? = Audio Out Of Sync?

mato
17th March 2002, 20:38
hi, idon't know if i'm in the right section of the forum, but what the hell...
the problem is: i encoded for the first time Swordfish DVD with dvd2svcd 1.0.7 b4 with I-Author after finding out that my Apex AD-500W DVD Player only plays CVD subtitles made with I-Author, not VCDXBUILD. SO, after a day doing its job, i tested with powerdvdxp4 and found out that audio was out of sync, like 3 or 4 sconds, a lot.
i burned to a cd and the same in my player.
the quetion is: why did it happen???
thanx

here is the log file.

rip with internal routines and you should be set. Swordfish has a zero-byte vob or something like that.

are you sure???
i think it has nothing to do with it???
help me?!?!?

Read the Q + A, DVD2SVCD FAQ and the Mandatory read before you post. If you did you would have seen this.

Q48: I have been having sync and other problems with VOB files I have ripped with another ripper, like SmartRipper?
A: Always use the internal routines or the built in Vstrip unless you have no other choice. SmartRipper and other rippers are known to cause issues occasionally with DVD2SVCD.

You ask for help mrbass gives it to you. You refuse to listen to a senior member. Take my advice and don't blow off someone trying to help you if you want answers from this forum in the future.

Check to see if the first chapter of the first VOB is a ZERO byte chapter. After loading the IFO file in the Conversion tab use the movie length drop down to look at the chapters. See if the first chapter shows some time or shows ZERO time. If it shows ZERO time then DESELECT the first chapter do the encode and the movie should sync. I recently had this problem (that I mentioned in another post) with the movie "10 Things I Hate About You " ..

I had the same problem with this film with any ripping type. You have to re-mux the file with bbmpeg with a audio offset of 7000ms. You can tweak more if you like, but this gets it very close.:D

mato

i think there is another problem here.

today i was reading the readme of dvdx and found out that if you rip the totallity of a dvd you may have audio sync problems.

the problem is that this happen beacuse the first part of the movie does NOT have audio!!!!! (the part of the copyrights!)

so the solution would be to jump that part, but how?

if you dont believe me read the readme of the dvdx, and think about it, it's totally true!

any comments please!?

i'm sorry but what i said before is beacuse:

1. i dont know how to check if the first byte is ZERO
2. ripping with internal routines (vstrip) gives me the same problem.

;)

thanx

Try using internal routines and uncheck the first chapter if it shows up as 0 length in the chapter popup. Sometimes the first chapter has no data, but it ends up screwing up the sync bad.
It can't be the copywrite screen, because that does not get ripped.

thanx!!!:D

one more thing:;)
do you recommed **REALLY** using vStrip with internal routines than dvd decrypter or smart ripper?
thanx!:)

mrbass
19th March 2002, 00:17
if you asked like 4 or 5 months ago I would say smartripper was better. But currently it's a toss up I'd say as far as getting the job done. I believe (could be wrong) doom9 prefers vstrip which is written by a 22yr old. Young people have all the brains. Smartripper is used quite bit by divx crowd.
My favorites are in order (internal routines, smartripper, vstrip)
Only reason I occasionally use smartripper for is for dual layer/angle dvds and cuz it has a 'new folder' option.

Currently, I'm doing an Indian rain dance and sacrificial ceremony of a goat in hopes that dvd2svcd might add 'new folder' to the dvdrip section.

THANX:D

markrb

There have been many, many problems with using SmartRipper and/or DVD decrypter and in many cases re-ripping with the included rippers has solved them.
There are times when the internal routines or Vstrip just doesn't work and in that case try and use and older version (before 2.40) of SmartRipper. The biggest group of problems seemed to happen right around there.

I will assure you whenever you post you are having a problem and the people here realize you are not using the included rippers that you will get little help until you do. It is just to common a problem.
