View Full Version : I-Author with 2400 Video and 2x192 Audio crash !!!

I bought a Cat DV-922 which supports subs.
Subs made with DVD2SVCD aren't displayed correct, but made with I-Author it works.
The proplem is, i want to have a SVCD with 2 languages and Subs.
And i want 192kbps Audio for each stream and not less, like 128kbps.
When i try to mux 2400 Video with 2x 192 Audio there is a warning the max Bitrate is not acceptable; Muxer crashes after scanning is done of the second Audio stream.
I know i can decrease max Bitrate by choosing a lower Bitrate for Video and/or Audio.
But i want to have 2400 Video, because it secures most compatibility with other Stand-Alone-Players and i want to have at least 192 for each Audio Track, because Audio-Quality matters to me !
I know there are existing patched I-Author-Files.

Does anyone know if there is a patched Muxer.exe, which is able to mux 2400 with 2x 192 + subs ? And mail me the link to get it ?

Actually if u use 2400 + 2x192 you are NOT respecting standard so u wont be sure about compatibility :D

PS havent u tried to choose CVD subtitles inside of DVD2SVCD ? Maybe they could work with your stand-alone

I can sympathize a little bit. Selectable subs via DVD2SVCD don't work on my stand-alone either (Apex 660). Even in DVD2SVCD images created via iAuthor, the subs don't work (though FF/RW does - which is amazing). To get selectable subs, I have to use iAuthor manually on non-premuxed streams.

While I believe there is a patch that will make iAuthor ignore the max bitrate for video and audio, I don't believe there is a patch that will get it to ignore max bitrate for video, audio and subs. You can mux as high as you want till you add a subtitle stream, but once you add one you have to stay below spec.

I fear the best you can do is to lower either your video bitrate or your audio bitrate. By my rough calculation, you'd have to lower the video bitrate to a max of about 2320 or so to get two 192 kbps audio streams plus one subtitle (allowing 40 kbps for subtitles).

CVD Subtitles made with DVD2SVCD don't work on my Cat DV-922.
When i insert the disc and let it run without switching to another Audio-Stream or Subtitle - CVD-Subs are displayed correct (actually only the first sub-stream). When i switch to the second Audio-Stream and/or second Sub-Stream no Subs at all. (YES: I made a disc with two SUB-Streams !!!)

Disc's made with I-Author are working fine ! But...

But i'm making disc with VBR like DVD2SVCD. Min-Bitrate 1200 Max-Bitrate 2400 and Average-Bitrate depends on the Movie-lenght between 1400 and 2200.
The Max-Bitrate determines two things:
1. Bitrate recognized by Progs like I-Author-muxer: 2400 + 2x192 +
Subs = to much; even when the Average-Bitrate is 1400
2. Quality for high-motion-scenes. High-motion high bitrate up to
2400. Low-Motion lower bitrate down to 1200

My goal is to have at least 2400. My Pioneer-Player is able to handle up to 2600, some Player like my Cat-922 are able to handle up to 3500 and more... in SVCD-Format.
Yet i haven't read about a Player (VCDhelp.com), which isn't able to handle a Max-Bitrate up to 2400 !!! So when i speak of compatibility i mean most combatibility and the best possible quality.

DVD2SCVD: I mean it is a really good prog, but ...
It cuts the Movie not by chapter, it cuts when the first disc is full (about 698MB for a 80er disc). So it can happen, it cuts the movie in the middle of a fight.
When i make SVCD's, i rip the movie by chapters, so i get two parts of the movie from the beginning, which are sperated right and not in the middle of a scene.

Max is 27xx thousand bits per second (2 x normal CD spin) audio included. You're violating, thus undermining compatability. However, some players will play it fine and maybe in the future all (new ones that is) will.

I'll try and attach a size fix to I-author, but I really dont expect forum attachments to work ... hasn't before.

Nope ... didn't work. Mail me if you want it.
