Hi,

I'm following mikeathome / mb1's method for creating dvd's from dv tape. However I am running into a problem I hope someone can help me fix.

I own a DVDRaptor-RT for doing transitions in premiere, however, when I set upper field first when exporting the project using aviwrapper, I get a canopus error, stating it cannot do the transitions with the current project settings. I have narrowed this down to the upper field first flag.

Does anyone know any way around this, or will I have to output the project as a microsoft dv, then use the util to alter frame order, then frameserve it to cce.

Thanks

Glen.

you can use what ever codec with aviwrapper but in my system uncompressed video is the default.

I don't think that is the problem, the canopus card requires the field order to be lower first. I believe this causes problems with cce as cce requires upper field first. Or has this been fixed in 2.64?

Just wondering if anyone has any workarounds for this?

Glen.

After the video footage is on your harddisk the Canopus card isn't involved into the process. Premier needs the canopus codec to be abel to read the file and after importing it to the timeline you can choose any codec to export the movie. If you wanna play the edited movie thru Canopus card, then you have to use the canopus codec and settings.

Aviwrapper is using uncompressed video to export. During the export it keeps the field-order. The field order can you check with Tmpgenc - advanced settings - deinterlace.

If you are not frameserving from Premier just choose the correct field order in Tmpgenc or CCE.

I always stick to lower field first when working with DV now. With CCE 2.64 just take the checkmark off of the Upper Field First setting and all will be fine. I've made over a dozen DV to DVD movies and they all play fine without any field order problems. Prior to using 2.64 I used to have field order problems whenever I encoded DV to DVD. But it seems that 2.64 fixed the problems.

Thanks for the information guys!

I will try the lower field first with cce, and see if that works.

Cheers
