ok im encoding a 96 minute dvd onto 2 svcds, (with dvd2svcd 1.07 build 4, and TMPG 2.52.34.129) and have a 38 mb svcd mpeg i want to add before the first half on the first disc, like a trailer.
so i encoded that, all is well. it came out the right size, and everything.
then, i go to encode the movie.
the conversion tab says that the movie is 1:36:16
here's my settings in the bitrate tab:
between 0 and 48 mins use 1 cd size 740 (?-1872)
between 48 and 97 mins use 1 cd size 800 (2044-890)
ok?
i think thats right. seems like it must be.
at the bottom it says
max 2530 min 300 (minavg unchecked,1600) max avg 2000
ok?
my encoder window is on tmpgenc, 2pass vbr, and highest quality.
BUT
in tmpg at the bottom it says
DVD2SVCD (MPEG-2 480x480 23.976fps VBR 896kbps)
and the the log keeps saying its doing 1050 max and about 800 min.
so what am i doing wrong?!?
AND, im about halfway done (tmpg is at 85000/14000 frames, and the output video is at 400 megs.
here's my dvd2svcd log so far:

First SmartRipper is not recomended. Use only the supplied rippers.

Second you are reading the way the bitrate tab works wrong.
What you are thinking is this:
For the first 0-48 minutes use 1 disc
For the second 48-76 minutes use one disc
for a total of 2 discs.

In fact you have set it so that the whole movie is being made to fit on one disc.

How it really works is this.

If the movie is between 0-48 minutes use 1 CD for the whole movie.
If the movie is between 48-76 minutes in it's entire length use 1 cd for the whole encode.

If you change the second line to read between 48-76 minutes use 2 cd's this will double the amount of room for the whole movie.

DVD2SVCD does not break the movie into segments when it figures it out. The length shown is for the whole movie time not just that section.

When you read the bitrate on the right the first number is the highest Avg bitrate that will be used for the low minutes the second number is the highest Avg bitrate used for the high minutes. If you entire movie length falls between these two length then the bitrate will be somewhere between the bitrate numbers.

Remember bitrate tab is for the WHOLE movie length.

sh^t. i had no idea
hmmm
should i give up or make it again?
hmmmm
i guess ill see how bad it works
thanks a lot
(especially for the promptness!!!!!!!)
sigh...
i recognize im at fault here, but maybe there should be a little help tab on each screen, since even the forum-based faq didnt clear this up for me
thanks a lot tho!
cheers!
