Hello Everyone,
i encoded an indian movie which is in ntse format. the quality is preety good but it shakes while playing back on my standalone. also I want to know that how can i change the title picture and do dvd chapter instead of fixed chapters without encoding all over again. i was encoding an avi before and when i encoded this movie i forgot to change the title picture and dvd chapters from fixed time chapters. any help will be a great help.
Thanks in advance.

Make a new directory and point DVD2SVCD there.
Put the new jpg into the directory and select it with DVD2SVCD
Start DVD2SVCD like normal
After CCE has started the main movie encoding close it and DVD2SVCD.
Copy all the files named tittle picture.? into the first directory. I think you only need .mpv, but I don't have any finished encodes to look at now.
Start DVD2SVCD and make sure to change back to the first directory.
Start Crash Recovery and I am pretty sure you can use it from SVCD Authoring. That should replace the tittle picture.
I am not certain exactly how to do the DVD chapters.
This will do nothing for the shaking. It is a serpate problem that could be anything. It might be your player, the original video used, it might be interlaced, it might need IVTC, the bitrate wasn't high enough, almost anything. Without more info there is no way to tell.
Try reading the Mandatory read post, the Newbie FAQ and the Q + A. At least this way if there is nothing there that helps you will know better what we kind of info we need.

Thanks for your help Markrb. So if i wand DVD chapters I need to encode the video again. The shaking is not only on my player I,ve tried on others too, the same. I am attaching the log file if that helps and also the project file.
Thanks again.

The DVD2SVCD_log.txt file is more useful.
I am not saying you need to re-encode the video to get DVD chapters just that I am not sure how to go about it.
The shaking will prpbably make you re-encode the video if you can get rid of it.

I'm not sure how you can get chapters without re-encoding, but I may be able to suggest a way to get rid of the shaking without re-encoding.
You're stream is 29.97 fps (Force Film NOT activated! Framerate: 29970). It's likely that the reason for the shaking is incorrect field order. You may be able to use pulldown.exe to fix it. Use a syntax something like
pulldown -nopulldown -tff odd movie_name.mpv new_movie_name.mpv
Then do crash recovery from the step after video encoding (muxing, I think). You'll need to swap the names of your mpv files first (so that DVD2SVCD will do crash recovery using the new mpv you just created).
I'd try -tff odd first. If it's still jerky, try again with -tff even.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Kedirekin. Do i put this syntex in project file and where.
many thanks.

Actually, you run it separately in a command prompt window (or write a batch file).
Incidentally I'm having to do the same thing myself tonight, though I can't check my results because my roommate is using the TV.
And I got the syntax wrong above. The mpv source and destination file names need to go before the options. I guess I've been using solaris a little too much lately.
Hint: to write it as a batch file, create an empty text file in the same directory as you mpv file. Add, on a single line
pulldown movie_name.mpv new_movie_name.mpv -nopulldown -tff odd
then save it as something.bat (doesn't matter what you call it, as long as it ends in .bat).
Find pulldown.exe under your DVD2SVCD program directory and copy it to the mpv directory as well.
Then just double click the batch file. After a few minutes, you should have another mpv file with the (hopefully correct) new field order. Swap the mpv file names, do crash recover, then burn and test it. If it's jerky (like the one you have now), change -tff to -tff even and try again.
Hope it helps (and I hope it works for me as well).

Can't help you with your problem much. But just for your information, I have also just started encoding DVDs with this program. And I only encode Indian DVDs. After encoding same DVD for 2-3 times, this the conclusion I have reached on.
Do not change the aspect ratio under CONVERSION tab. DVD2SVCD can automatically detect the correct aspect ratio mostly. You can double check that by viewing your DVD on your computer with any Software DVD player link WinDVD or PowerDVD. You have to make sure it's 16:9 or 4:3. Most of EROS entertainment moview are 16:9 (for your information).
The other thing you need to know is whether the movie is NTSC or FILM type. If it's NTSC, as in your case, set the Deinterlace to SMARTDEINTERLACE. Do not change the Smartdeinterlace Settings.
And the most important thing. Use DVD2SVCD internal routines to rip your DVD (remove macrovision) to your Hard Disk. This is very important, if you want audio sync.
Once you follow the above procedure, you will not have any video shakes as well as audio sync problems.
Now for your Title picture and CD Change picture, lot of people have already given your good suggestions. One other problem that you might face, which I am still researching on is that most of the time the CD will mid way between a song. I will let you know once I figure out how to do the final muxing and svcd chaptering manualy as DVD2SVCD can not take care of it.
I hope the above information will help you in your further rips.

Thanks Kedirekin, I figured it out just some time after I reply you also the correct command line. it fixed my movie the second time when when i did the pulldown with even field. I managed to shange the title and change cd picture aswell. I dont have any chapters now because when I change the title pictures I tried with dvd chapters and so it changed my dvd2svcd chapters file. because i encoded the movie initially with 300sec chapters so it wont do it unless I can create dvd2svcd chapters file that it correct discription of 300 sec encoded movie.
thanks heapes.

Thanks Amit,
This was my first hindi movie convertion because we just stated getting hindi DVDs here in OZland. I really appreciat your tips. As you can see from my reply to Kedirekin I manage to get rid of the shaking problem. Now I just dont have chapters but thats not a huge worry. I will aplly your suggestions in the COHORE CHORE CHUPKE CHUPKE convertion I am about to start now.
Thanks heapes for your input.
