Well if you just have the vobs you can't activate the subtitles in power DVD, in order to do it, you have to make a whole backup from the DVD disc. If you use Smart Ripper , pick the Backup option. an place it in the hard drive.
Once this there, you can activate the diferent languages ans subs included in the DVD.

In power dvd use the option
Open dvd file on hard drive

good luck

Thanks. I was afraid I would get that answer. Is there any player that can play vob-files and show the subs after you have done a plain rip? Or is there a player that can play vob-files and make use of the vobsub subs?

CladDVD ripper tell that some software players can't play properly the DVD files unless they are in a directory named "video_ts" (just like the one in the dvd disc) at the root of one of your hard drives. And it is true, as after done this you get full access to chapters and subtitles menus by playing the files with WinDVD, after having selected in Config menu the letter of your hard drive as the source.

You can display text (ASCII) based subtitles with DVD Subber or Subviewer. They support WinDVD and Power DVD.

Benefit is that you can display subtitles what you even don't have on DVD - download it from subtitle sites.

Also, you can rip subtitles with Subrip, but you need ifo file of movie ...
