Sorry, this was supposed to be a reply to "what went wrong".
You can't probably register xvid DShow filter because you are missing a VC7 library dll.
The funny thing is that playback should work though, you just won't have access to the filter properties and post-processing settings.

The extracted file has to be copied to your \windows\system (9x/ME)
or system32 (NT/2k/XP) folder. After that try registering xvid.ax again.
You can use luma masking with koepi's latest release from 15-03-2002.
The weird macroblocks won't be there again.
