Let's face it - ripping large movies, re-encoding them to fit on a standard DVD-R, then authoring and writing take a LLLOOONNNGGG time.

Is there some program (CCE, TMPG) which could take, as an example, the m2v and ac3 files created with SmartRipper, for example, then encode them directly?? It would be sooooo much easier than having to use many conversion routines.

Anyone?

ifoedit is what you're looking for...

as soon as re-encoding enters the picture you will always have a lenghty procedure. at least until somebody comes up with a dvd compliant muliplexer (the dvd standard is quite complicated, without the necessary documents which cost 50'000$ and are under NDA it is extremely complicated to create such a program, hence all you can get at the moment are commercial ones) that can even be run from the commandlin
