Let's see, I have a page, that's still up at www.wam.umd.edu/~ahubbard with my guide, and I got an e-mail from doom9 talking about how you were doing full-res rips, and thought maybe we could integrate/compare, as my guides were low-res. I don't recall if your page was up yet, my original guide says March 12th 2000, updated April 24th 2000. I have almost 24,000 hits I think, but with the passing of the DMCA, I stopped updating. School kept me too busy, so I didn't get back to you, and then when I finally had some time, you were already going full swing. Anyway, congrats, we've come a long way since then.

I actually do remember that. I arbitrarily set the site start date to March 15th, I really don't recall the day I uploaded the first guide but it was in early march, that much is certain. I bought a 27GB HD on X-mas 1999 only to rip but failed rather miserably with mpeg2avi and ac3dec on the first try (that thought me never to rip one vob at the time).. my 2nd try in February 2000 were much more successful (thanks to flask) and after 2 weeks of testing I started to write the first guide.
