Can someone please tell me why you cant assign a menu key and target in an actual menu in Maestro, so you can press the menu key on the remote and it will return you to the previous menu. I have bought dvds that do this.
thanks to anyone willing to help my ignorant ass,
mike

To the best of my tire ass's knowledge you can do this. In your dvd project you can either close all of your assets (movies, menus..) or just right click on your project title, deselect (if it's already selected)"View Connections" and then right click on the project title again and select "View Connections".
Click (single not double) your menu or movie that you want to view the connections of. In this case you want the movie. Find Chapter X (X being the number)Menu Key, assign which ever menu you want to be the one to come up when you select "Menu" here but I belive you have to do this for all chapters.
Ok off to catch some ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs

In Meastro under Connections you can define Menu key and time out action for movies (chapters)

Thanks guys, but I was talking about accessing a menu from another menu by pressing the menu key on the remote. For example, i watched planet of the apes the other night and accessed the chapter selection menu. There was a movie transition from the root menu and then you are looking at the chapter selection menu. I then pressed the menu key on the remote and it took me back to the root menu. Well i did the exact same thing on dvd im making and instead of taking me back to the root menu it played the transition again.
So anyone know how it was done?
thanks

Sorry , I don't quit understand this. What kind of transition is it? A simple jumping from one menu to an other or some kind of effect?
Anyway watch the SPRM5 and with a combination of "if" "than" and "goto line ... if GPRMx=..." you can make a Command Sequence which gonna be the Menu selction under Connections.

I'm watching Planet of the Apes just right now. It has a Main menu. From the Main menu you can jump to Language selection, Chapter celection or Play movie. From Language menu after selecting your language you can jump to Main menu or play movie. From Chapters after selecting your scene the movie plays at once. Or you can jump to Main menu.
Different country - different DVD? It's sona 2.

The transition im talking about is when you select chapter selection from the main menu and then the ape does the twirl with the sword and cuts the screen and then the chapter selection menu appears.
while you are looking at the chapter selection menu, when you press your menu key on the remote control, it will take you back to the root menu. Is it because the chapter selection menu is motion menu maybe?
The only reason Im making such a big deal about this is b/c im making this dvd for my parents (my wedding with extras, etc.) and just trying to make it where they can do this
so is command sequence the only way to go on this?
thanks again

We don't have the same DVD. I can't see any motion menu here just stills. On my menues there is a button for Main menu. If you make it like this you can set up the link as you like. The remotes Menu button action can be defined in Connections -> Title Menu.

If you go back to a menu with animation in the beginning you are gonna need to link the menu button to the title menu

Not sure im following you xenobyte99. If you are in connections and highlight a movie, you can designate a menu key. But if you are in connections and highlight a menu there is not a menu key, only a go up link. And the only title menu key is under all sources and i thought correlates with the title menu button on your remote.
I guess the only way ill do this is to disable menu call under disabled user action, and make the user select a button i make to take them back to previous menu.
Thanks for the help and input guys,
mike
