Hi,
I have a movie comes with these .srt .ssa .sub files. These are separate sub files,
not burned into the .avi file. Is it possible to change the color of the subtitle?
The original color is white, very hard to read in this bright movie. I tried to
manually change the color value in the .ssa and .sub file but it does not work.

It depends which program is used to display the subtitles.

Install DVobSub, it will render all these formats listed; for SSA the colors are indeed embedded in the file, so changing them should be enough (if in doubt, try rendering demo.ssa file included with VirtualDub's subtitler - only DVobSub will render it correctly).

Otherwhise (for all other formats), you need to change the color of the subs directly in the subtitling application (DVobSub, MicroDVD, DivXG400 etc.), and it IS always possible. Look for it ^_^.
