hi

just want to verify some points about progressive/interlaced video. when i preview the pal dvd in dvd2avi, it says its interlaced, but in fact is progressive when studying the picture closer.

so does that mean in tmpgenc, i put the source as progressive and output as non-interlaced?

also, for other pal rippers out there, do u use field order A or B? i tried them both and they seem to be similar

thanks

Svcd is always interlaced, so the output must set to interlaced.

Don't know about dvd2avi but TMPGEnc sometimes doesn't recognize whether the source file is interlaced or not (even the 2.52 version), especially when the source is captured from TV and deinterlaced with VDub.

As I understand it the field order only matters if the source is interlaced.

I 've made the experience, that DVD2AVI mostly says, that a PAL movie source is interlaced, but normally DVDs are progressive! So I always select progressive source input (in TMPGEnc) and progressive output and it works very fine.
