I have been haveing some trouble with Vdub 1.4.9 crashing in windows XP Pro. It happens when I use both the DivX 4.12, and 5.0 Pro codecs. I have tried many different ways of getting it to work, I even tried it with different sources, but everytime I tell it to encode, it goes for a few seconds, then crashes. I have tried reinstalling VDub, and codecs, etc. When I was running Windows 2000 Pro the same thing happened. The only way that I found to fix it then was to reformat and reinstall everything. I don't want to do that now, so if any one has any suggestions of what I should do to fix this, please let me know. Thanks.

I'm using VDub 1.4.9 with XP Pro and divx 4.12 and 5.0. Since I have installed the 5.0, VDub doesn't want to open sylia.dll (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19516). So no more "Job control"!!! But it still encodes the movie well. GKnot doesn't want to open d2v files anymore(http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16177). It's a BIG mess. I'll go for a proper reinstall some day (as you might do). Usually it fixes A LOT of troubles and nobody knows why... I agree, it's very frustrating
In one word, don't try too hard to find the reason why it happens to you. (sorry because I know it doesn't help too much

I find that 1.4.9 has been unstable in Win98SE as well. I put back 1.4.8 and continued working on my video projects - all is fine now.

good luck

baz00ie, do you think you could post 1.4.8 or even email it to me?

Email: langj@spu.edu

Hopefully using an earlier version will help.

Thanks

No problems here (XP). I like seeking through keyframes without having to hold the shift button. And I love the fact that I can open DV type-1 video directly now without frameserving through AviSynth.
