few months ago i had sucessfully encoded a movie with divx 4

I've heard that ther is a new divx 5 and there is xvid, I wish to know which one I should use to encode a new movie and how.

When I encode my last movie with divx 4 I've use gordian knot 0.23, today in the guide of divx 5 they say the same thing, event if gordian knot have just divx 4 for codec ??? is this ok?

thanx

The new DivX5 codec has only been out for a few days. My suggestion is to stick with DivX4 because that is a more reliable codec for the moment. Especially for someone just starting out in this field, DivX4 + Gknot is much easier. XviD is still under heavy development, and changes daily. Not to mention that it's settings are a lot more complicated than DivX4/5.
DivX5 still has some issues that have to be worked out before it's reliable. Right now everyone is in the testing and comparing stage for DivX5.
