View Full Version : DVD2SVCD not creating the right number of chapter points

My original problem turned out that I miss read the log file.
However I found that there are too few chapters.
The video I have created runs 50 minutes on disc 1.
The chapter points are set at every 90 seconds.
There are only 28 chapters being made.
This makes chapters for only about up to 42 minutes.
Why are there no chapters for the remaining 8 minutes?
Is it because I used a 90 minute cd?
I will be doing further testing to see if I can find the problem.

I would like to know if there should be chapters or did the length of the cd stop them from being made?

Now for a question I should know the answer for, but alas I do not.
Is the cue file what actually creates the chapters on the burned cd? Can I simply edit it to create more chapters following the timing scheme already present?

Thanks,
Mark

Quote from other thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18574&highlight=half+movie)

You can edit it, but the times in the cue aren't the times in the movie, this are the time on the CDR!
So on a 80min CDR 40min is half of the CD.
If you got a film with 60 min. on the full(!) disk, 40 min. in the cue means 30 min of the movie.
If you can calculate the time by hand, you can edit the cue.
But it only hits with a CBR-encoding. With VBR you have to ask your cristall-ball or tea-leaves at which point you
have to set your indexes.

Hi Mark,

what about using VCDEasy, import the muxed MPEG in the SVCD main window, then you can create your chapters in the chapter settings and see if this works when burning with VCDEasy using CDRDAO. I did some testing the other day with VCDEasy and it worked pretty well.

Greetings,
Gerti

I just want to add a couple of extra points. So hitting it perfect doesn't really matter to me.

gerti67 since most of the chapters are there already I think that editing the cue file to add 2 or 3 points is my best option.

I just wanted to make sure it was the cue file that created the chapter points and I guess now I know.

Now why did it not create the chapters in the first place, Hmmm?
